A Big Day Coming for i-SIGMA’s Certifications

Monday, March 2nd will mark important milestones for i-SIGMA’s two certification programs.

PRISM Privacy+ Certification (Records and Information Management)

March 2 will see the launch of the reformatted PRISM Privacy+ Certification specifications and audit regime. So, while PRISM members may, at their discretion, continue to utilize their SOC 2 (or ISO 27001) audits, they may alternately utilize the NAID AAA Certification audit regime at a much lower cost.

And, because the specifications of both certifications are now closely aligned, PRISM members already NAID AAA Certified can add Privacy+ at an even greater discount, utilizing the same audit.

It is important to note the new PRISM Privacy+ Certification specifications more prescriptively address the security and regulatory issues specific to records and information management services, and so, while the cost as been reduced, the standard is more relevant to customers vendor selection due diligence requirements.

NAID AAA Certification (Electronic Media and Hard Copy Media Secure Destruction)

While there are no immediate specifications changes to the NAID AAA Certification specifications, a series of new, streamlined applications will be posted online on the same day.

Applicants, whether initial or renewal, will still be able to select from a menu of applications the suit their service model (i.e., Facility-based, Mobile/Onsite, Physical Destruction, Overwriting), but the form itself will be much shorter and more easily navigated.

And, while the existing online renewal portal will continue as is for the time being, the association plans to expand and improve its functionality in the near future.
