This Week Atlanta ARMA to Learn Most Common Data Disposal Mistakes

February 27, 2018

On Wednesday, February 28, NAID CEO Bob Johnson will close the Atlanta ARMA Chapter one-day seminar with a session highlighting the most common information disposition misconceptions.  His appearance marks the first in what will be a yearlong campaign to promote his book Information Disposition: A Practical Guide to the Secure, Compliant Disposal of Records, Media, and IT Assets.

“Proper information disposition is one of the most misunderstood and neglected areas of records management,” says Johnson. “It is exciting for me to share the industry perspective with these professionals and see the lights go on right in front of you.”

Included among the issues Johnson will cover are:

  • The Role of Contractual Indemnification
  • The Hazards of Ignoring Record Types
  • The Hazards of Ignoring All Media Formats
  • The Importance of Written Disposition Procedures
  • The Importance of Employee Disposition Training
  • The Importance of Vendor Selection Criteria
  • The Hazards of Focusing on Particle Size
  • The Hazards of Focusing on Irrelevant Standards
  • Sporadically or Inconsistent Information Destruction
  • The Hazards of Focusing Solely on Regulated Data
  • The Importance of Documenting Compliance
