It is with their best interest in mind that the i-SIGMA Board of Directors has decided to move the 2021 NAID & PRISM International Conference from a live event, originally scheduled for March 18-21 in Las Vegas, into a virtual one. i-SIGMA looks forward to hosting a full Conference for the industry through an online platform this spring. Details are being worked on presently and will be released soon.

“The decision was not made lightly and came about after a recommendation from the Executive Committee and Annual Conference Committee,” according to i-SIGMA Director of Marketing & Communications, Kelly Martinez. “The Committee is excited to help plan a robust and quality event for members, even if the format is a bit different this year.”

It is important to note, the electronic election of the 2021 i-SIGMA Board of Directors will go forward as planned.

As the association moves the 2021 NAID & PRISM International Conference to a virtual event, i-SIGMA is committed to offering the same robust programing, opportunities to dive deep into topics and content that is currently impacting our industry, impactful networking, and the ability to see the latest industry innovations in products and services from industry suppliers. An online format gives the unique opportunity for useful and insightful collaboration with members and industry leaders from around the globe, straight from the comfort and safety of your home office.

Shred School 2018:

For the sixth year in a row, the association’s traveling educational arm known as Shred School will be conveniently offering its unique, immersion, “in-the-trenches” sales and operations training across the United States with the Dean of Shred School himself, Ray Barry, at the helm.

Canada Breach Notification Seminars:

To help NAID members in Canada capitalize on new data breach laws coming November 1st, NAID will host a one-day seminar in Calgary and in Toronto on September 25th and 27th respectively. “We now know data breach notification requirements are one of the most influential drivers for secure data destruction business growth,” says NAID CEO Bob Johnson. “These session are going to show attendees how to use these new requirements to make more money.

E-Scrap 2019 and the Electronics Reuse Conference:

NAID CEO Bob Johnson will speak in October at two highly influential events in the electronics recycling world. At E-Scrap 2018, hosted in New Orleans (Oct. 9-11) this year, Johnson will address changes to the NAID AAA Certification program that better address clients’ requirements (and service provider success). Later in the month, Johnson will then present twice at the Electronics Reuse Conference (Oct 27-30). He will be explaining the various types of NAID AAA Certification available as well as the rationale for the program’s growing acceptance in one session. In a second session, he will address the growing impact of the EU’s GDPR, including how it has already led to new laws in Colorado and California and in many other states where legislation is being introduced.

I still consider myself new to the association. Next month will mark my one year anniversary. And while I come with nearly 15 years of marketing experience, in the world of secure data destruction and all things NAID, there remains much for me to learn.  As such, I didn’t honestly know totally what to expect going into my first Shred School two weeks ago in Austin, TX.

For those who have been around a while, you already know the caliber and quality NAID exerts for every endeavor. I’ve been witnessing this throughout my first year here. NAID put on a terrific event at the annual conference in the spring. I’ve attended Board of Directors calls and heard the passion in their voices as they discuss matters for the continued growth of the association. I’ve spoken with CEO Bob Johnson as he casts both vision and discusses the realistic impact of regulations on the daily lives of member businesses. I’ve read past articles rich in content and advice. And most of all, I was presenting at Shred School myself! But to be given a scope of what to expect during an event so you can prepare a presentation and to actually sit in sessions and speak to attendees are two totally different things. Going in, I wasn’t totally sure what Shred School would be like.

So, as a new attendee myself, let me share my thoughts on Shred School:

I was impressed.

What you may not know is that each presenter prepares their sessions independently. However, NAID has wisely selected experts in their fields who know what they are talking about. As such, our content built on one another’s naturally. I found myself nodding emphatically as Ray Barry spoke about the sales process (I have experience in lead generation and working with Sales for conversion) and as Daryl Woytowicz talked about the importance of websites (I used to be a web producer). My husband owns a small business and I was taking screenshots and notes as Joe Roberto shared more prudent pricing strategies.

It went on and on for two days straight with each trainer. Key speakers teaching in a small format setting, giving crisp actionable best practices for facets of secure data destruction or elements of business growth tailored specifically for the industry. I didn’t walk away thinking, “another good NAID event” – I walked away breathlessly impressed. I am proud to work for an association that offers this caliber of educational material and honored to be a part of the training team.

My job as a marketer is to encourage people to attend all of our events. Now that I have had almost a year with the association and attended many of these events myself, I can honestly tell you it isn’t just good PR – you have my genuine endorsement. I truly implore you to see for yourself. You won’t regret it.
