NAID-Europe are holding a seminar on 18 May, 2017 to thoroughly explain how the secure data destruction service providers of Europe can reap full benefit from the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

“The GDPR is big news because it can’t be business as usual for any type of company or public sector body after May 2018. If it is business as usual after that point, there will be consequences for companies and organisations, whether they are big or small, public or private, and those consequences will be very significant.”

– Helen Dixon, Ireland Data Protection Commissioner

“Dixon’s comment is more than idle speculation,” says NAID CEO, Bob Johnson. “We watched it happen in the US when HIPAA and GLB became law. Those who take time to prepare will profit enormously. Those who do not prepare will struggle. It is that simple. It’s the association’s job to provide the education and resources.”

And resources will be provided. NAID have commissioned international law firm Allen & Overy to create a state-of-the-art contract template. Attend Making the Most of the GDPR to learn contract elements and how they apply to the new regulatory requirements. NAID is also giving attendees a copy of the contract template for use.

According to NAID-Europe Chairman Amadeo Roig Casanova of Destrupak in Spain, such a resource protects members and provides an opportunity to increase sales. “Customers are required to have a new contract with the data processors under the new regulation, but they often have no idea what it should include.” Roig elaborated further, “If a NAID member is able to provide such a document that has been created by one of the most highly regarded privacy attorneys in Europe, they will have an important advantage.”

The NAID-Europe Seminar, Making the Most of the GDPR will be held 18 May 2017 at STREFF Data Protection Service in Luxembourg.

Seats are limited.
